In a very small town of Mesoamerica, where time seems to stand still and the monotonous and secret life of its people demands some degree of mental distraction, traveling circuses have become a temporary but necessary escape. For a curious-minded boy named José Andrés, however, The Circus of Terror, the most recent entertainment offering to set up tent in his barrio, will become a revelatory experience of a different kind.
